- When Cary Cox was born in October 1736 in Halifax, North Carolina, his father, William, was 36 and his mother, Lady, was 32. He had five sons and two daughters with Mary Horne. He then married Mary Elizabeth Horne and they had 17 children together. He also had three sons from another relationship. He died on March 24, 1814, in Putnam, Georgia, having lived a long life of 77 years.
